Chinese New Year's day is a well-known ritual of Parisian, almost a ball of July 14 which would have been mistaken in season. One knows all the famous procession with his not less famous dance of the dragon.

The Tanned Ones bathe in box office glory

A plucky French comedy about middle-aged holidaymakers has triumphed over Hollywood's latest blockbuster

Les Bronzés 3: Amis Pour La Vie (The Tanned Ones 3: Friends for Life) has proved the most popular film at the worldwide box office this week, thanks to record ticket sales in France alone

Les Bronzés are to France what the Carry On films are to Britain. The first movie, Les Bronzés, lampooned the Club Med holidaymakers of the 1970s, with its friendly organisers and group activities both on the beach and in the bedroom. The sequel, 1979's Les Bronzés Font Du Ski (The Tanned Ones Go Skiing) transferred the action to Val d'Isère and the Alpine slopes.
